![]() ![]() In this case, the killings are deliberately planned to re-enact famous urban legends. "Urban Legend" is in the " Scream" tradition, which means that its characters are allowed to be aware of the traditions of their genre. I am reminded of " I Know What You Did Last Summer" (1997), in which the slasher dressed at all times in a slicker and a rubber rain hat, like the Gorton's Fisherman, and yet was never noticed in a coastal resort town in summer when it was not raining. Still, you have to wonder why a person in a conspicuous parka isn't noticed creeping around the campus and even into heated swimming pool area (sorry-that one's a false alarm the person in the parka is an innocent who just happens to like to wear a subzero parka in hot and humid environments). Of course, the dean of students may be the killer this movie doesn't waste a single character, every single person in it is possibly the slasher. If I were dean of students, I'd ban all forms of head covering for the duration of the emergency. Bean subzero Arctic parkas where the fur lining on the hood sticks out so far that you can't see the face inside. The slasher prowls the campus wearing one of those L.L. There's a moment of relief, and then the buildup, and then thwaaaank! Just to keep things interesting, about every third time it's not Natalie/Brenda, etc., but a slasher with an ax. The starts next to the title will tell you how good they are compared to each other, rather than overall quality."Urban Legend" makes heavy use of what we may as well name the Creep Chord. Better than majority of the stories in this compilation. The concept was not exactly unique - Escape Room meets occultists. Probably best practical and special effects from all the stories. I'm impressed with Alexa's acting (funny how her Korean line delivery was more natural than the English one) and the props aka the bodies. I would pee my pants if I ever come across something like that. ![]() It just looked so weird and uncanny - and the movement. They were able to built quite a tension in just few minutes and the design for the mannequin was extremely good. When you are hunted by the horror snapshot filters, even outside of the app. Sadly, that was the best part of the story. When horror stories deliver shower abs scenes - I cannot force myself to complain. A bit exaggerated, but something that could potentially happen. I do wish they were a little bit more clear if there was any supernatural involvement, but nevertheless, this still gave me the most creeps. This is scary because of the more realistic scenario. This story was more of what I was expecting to see when I started Seoul Ghost Stories - typical creepy pasta type of a deal, with decent effects for a short like that. I'm not sure how scary it was, but it did make me feel extremely uncomfortable. I knew this is going to be a ride the moment they opened it with the perspective of being in someone's mouth as they get check up by hot dentist Hoya. When the ghost started to do Spiderman impersonation, I lost it. What stood out in this short? Bad acting and bad special effects. Revengeful ghost and vague insinuation on why she even mad. Sure, there was one nice semi-gory picture created closer to the end, but overall - too short to create the atmosphere or to deliver the scares. It's hard to have any meaningful opinion or thoughts about it with how short it was. ![]() The first short story ended, before it even started. You need time to built at least a hint of a tension. I understand that these are suppose to be a short formal, creepy past like tales, but the 15 minutes format should be the minimum. Rewatch Value 5.0 10 stories for 120 minutes of screen time. ![]()
